What is Salvation?

Understanding the Mission of Jesus

We are saved!  Salvation!  Rah, Rah!  Salvation!

“Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved.”  (Mark 16:16).  Rah, Rah!  Saved!

Saved?  Saved from what?  Saved for what?  The term “salvation” can mean many things to many people.  For some people being saved means that they will enter Heaven when they die.  Some people believe that being saved means they will be guided away from sin and toward a more wholesome life.  For some people being saved means that they will be delivered from Satan’s grip.

I believe being saved means all of the above, and one concept rests on the others.  As we accept Jesus as our Savior, we are drawn to a new path, a new way of life, where we receive guidance and comfort toward a more wholesome life.  We are delivered from Satan’s grip (sometimes this can take time).  We are assured a place in the Heavenly…
